F.C. Copenhagen sign Faroese teenager Thomas Bjørn Miezan

F.C. Copenhagen's Talent Department has picked up Faroese teenager Thomas Bjørn Miezan after he turned 16 on Friday.

Miezan is an offensive player who joined FCK from HB Tórshavn, where he has played both in the centre of midfield and on the wing. He also boasts caps for the Faroe Islands' U17 team.
 
"Thomas is a player with good physical capacity to become a top player," says Mikkel Køhler, head of recruitment in FCK's Talent Department.

"In addition, he has both good technique and tactical understanding. He is a positive boy with a great personality, who loves to train and practice the things he doesn't already know. We consider Thomas to be a talent with great potential, which we look forward to seeing at FCK - and hopefully together can fulfil this potential."

'A dream come true' 
Miezan, who was born in the Faroe Islands and who also has Ivorian roots, will move to the Danish capital this summer, with his FCK contract beginning from 1 July 2022.

Discussing his move, Miezan says: "It's a big step for a young player, but a dream come true for me, and it's something I've been working hard for.

"I know that I can develop well here, so FCK is the right place for me."

Another Faroese at FCK
Miezan follows in the footsteps of other Faroese players to join FCK, Todi Jónsson and Brandur Hendriksson (formerly Olsen), who played 207 and 16 matches for the Lions, respectively.

"I am proud to sign a contract with such a big club as FCK, because there have not been so many Faroese in the club before," adds Miezan, who will complete school this spring before moving to the Danish capital.

"Of course, I have seen Brandur play for the national team, and I know that Todi is in the Legends Club.

"I am very much looking forward to coming to Copenhagen, and I am ready to work even harder than I have already done. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm sure FCK can help me become a top player. That is my ultimate goal."

Discussing the deal, Mikkel adds: "This signing is in line with our strategy to bring the greatest Nordic talents to FCK, which with the right development can reach a high international level.

"We look forward to following Thomas here with us, and at the same time we look forward to having a Faroese at the club again."
