Neestrup reacts to 1-0 cup win over Kolding
F.C. Copenhagen secured safe passage to the Danish Cup semi-finals on Sunday with a 1-0 home win over Holding IF in the second leg of their quarter-final clash.
Robert Silva grabbed the goal early in the second half in what was the last game in Parken for 2024.
It means the Lions head into the new year still competing in the Danish Superliga, UEFA Conference League, and Danish Cup.
"We are in the three tournaments we are supposed to be in, and these two quarter-finals were played in a tight schedule," says Neestrup.
"To put it mildly, not everything went well today and it wasn't in Kolding either, but we are through, even though it was a boring football match today.
"We didn't reach that level from Thursday, and that's how it is sometimes."
FCK beat Hearts 2-0 on Thursday night in the Conference League and travel to Vienna this week for the final round of the league stage.
"I can look forward to 2025 and say that we have everything in our own hands, and I don't think that could be taken for granted three months ago, so we are satisfied with that," adds Neestrup.
"I know there are a lot of things that need to be improved, but there are also a lot of things that are good. We qualified for the Conference League and then moved on from the league phase, where we will play after Christmas. We are top of the Superliga and we have progressed in the cup. All that while we have again sold players for many millions of kroner."
FCK's last game of 2024 comes on Thursday when the Lions travel to Vienna, knowing a win is crucial to – at the very least – secure a seeding in the Conference League playoff round.
