F.C. København hires new assistant coach

Jens Berthel Askou will join immediately as new assistant coach. The agreement will initially run until the summer, when the parties will evaluate the collaboration.

42-year-old Jens Berthel Askou has coaching experience from Sparta Prague, IFK Göteborg, AC Horsens, HB Thorshavn, Vendsyssel FF, Thisted FC and Skive IK.

He is also a well-known name in Danish football, where in his playing career he played for, among others, Silkeborg IF, Vejle Boldklub and Esbjerg fB, while the former defender has also played in both England and Turkey.

Sune: Will complement the coaching team
Sports director Sune Smith-Nielsen is pleased with the appointment of Jens Berthel Askou:

"We are constantly looking at how we can strengthen our setup both on and off the pitch at F.C. Copenhagen. With Jens we will get a coach who will complement the rest of the coaching team very well with his professional skills. He knows Danish football inside and out, and knows what demands are made," says Sune Smith-Nielsen.

Berthel Askou: Great opportunity for me
Jens Berthel Askou is looking forward to taking on the tasks for F.C. Copenhagen.

Neestrup: Professionally skilled
Head coach Jacob Neestrup is looking forward to starting the collaboration with Jens Berthel Askou.

"Jens is a person with extensive experience from Danish football. His professional strengths and not least his character will complement our coaching team well. I look forward to a good collaboration," says Jacob Neestrup.

Jens Berthel Askou is thus joining a coaching team that already includes Jacob Neestrup, Stefan Madsen, Hjalte Bo Nørregaard, Kim Christensen and Andrew Clark.
